Are You Ready to Learn with AI?
As Generative AI tools become more common in university courses, assignments, and everyday tasks, developing critical AI literacy is more important than ever. The Student Readiness Assessment (SRA) is designed to help you understand how prepared you are to use AI in your studies. It asks a series of multiple-choice, scenario-based, and open-ended questions to assess your understanding of AI and how it can be used in teaching and learning.
What you’ll get
Based on your responses, the tool provides tailored feedback, guidance for improvement, and a short summary report that includes areas to focus on and recommended UBC resources.
Who developed it
This tool was created through a collaboration between UBC and the University of Sydney, and is hosted on the Cogniti platform, which uses ChatGPT to support learning through teaching agents and custom chatbots.
How to access it
Click the button below to launch the tool. When prompted, use your Microsoft login with your UBC CWL credentials.
Aligning with student feedback
Although much of the development work on the tool was done before we undertook a pulse survey of students’ use and needs around generative AI tools, the provision of this tool responds to the feedback theme of providing support and guidance towards students becoming critical and ethical users of these tools. Time commitment
The assessment takes approximately 7 minutes to complete. Understanding your AI readiness is a great first step toward using these tools effectively and responsibly in your academic work.
